Job Description

We are creating an International Nurses Job Pool to connect internationally educated nurses (IENs) with healthcare employers across Canada. This post is to collect applications and resumes only. When employers have suitable openings, we will share shortlisted profiles with them based on their requirements.

Key Responsibilities (may vary by employer)

As an Internationally Educated Nurse, your duties may include:

  • Providing safe, compassionate, and culturally sensitive patient care under the scope of practice allowed in your province.
  • Assisting with admission, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Administering medications and treatments as per policies and within your authorized scope.
  • Monitoring patient conditions, documenting observations, and reporting changes to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educating patients and families on treatment plans, discharge care, and health promotion.
  • Following infection prevention and control practices and all safety protocols.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation and respecting confidentiality and privacy standards.

Who Should Apply

This pool is for internationally educated nurses who:

  • Are registered, licensed, or trained as a nurse outside Canada (RN, RPN/LPN, or equivalent designation).
  • Are in the process of, or interested in starting, licensure/registration with a Canadian nursing regulatory body.
  • Are open to working in a variety of settings, such as:
    • Hospitals
    • Long-term care and retirement homes
    • Community and home care
    • Clinics and specialty care centres

Preferred Qualifications (may vary by employer)

  • Completed nursing education from an accredited institution outside Canada.
  • Clinical experience in medical, surgical, geriatric, community, critical care, or other relevant areas.
  • English or French language proficiency (IELTS, CELBAN, or other accepted tests may be required by regulators/employers).
  • Willingness to complete bridging programs, examinations, or orientation as required by Canadian regulatory bodies and employers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centred approach.
  • Ability to work in a team-based, fast-paced clinical environment.
